Amazing. ~Scraps of Elegance - "Mary's Song", September Kit~

Hello, my peeps! I bet you've been wondering where the heck I have been! It must of seemed I dropped of the face of this earth but I did not.  On September 17/14 my husband was is in serious motorcycle accident, and my life was put on hold. By the Grace of God and through the prayers of many many people my husband is doing very well and will hopefully be coming home in a couple of weeks! He is in an amazing rehab facility that work with brain injuries, plus working with physical and occupational therapies as well.  I have been living at my daughters' in winnipeg during this whole time and have only gone home on two separate occasions.  God is good! Soon we will resume life, but which a whole new appreciation for it and each other and God!

Because of this, I have had to step down from my design team obligations with Scraps of Elegance, and I only have 1 layout to share with you that I created the day before the accident.  I didn't get a chance to edit any close ups, and this is the only photo I have on my iPad to share with you. So let me introduce  "Amazing" using the September kit 'Mary's Song' from Scraps of Elegance !

I was really looking forward to create with this gorgeous kit and am glad I managed to get one project done! This layout features my great niece Cassidy. This beautiful child is truly amazing! She was born with Cystic Fibrosis, and once they found the diagnosis and started receiving testament, she has flourished and is a healthy happy girl. She is charming, talented, smart as a whip and a beautiful Child of God!

It's been so long now, but I am pretty sure I used bits of all the kit and add ons. I did lots of stencil/moulding paste work, and used some Blue Fern Studio chipboard. I know I used a sketch for inspiration, but since I am not home and don't have it with me, I can't remember whom it was by.

Well, thanks so much for looking! I don't know when I will be back with more, but hopefully I will be able to get back to scrapping in the not to far from now future!

Be Blessed!

Art Journalling with "Raindrops on roses" August kit and Scraps of Elegance!

Hi there! Sorry I haven't been very active herelately and few projects but my son just got married this past weekend, so needless to say I have been very busy and very preoccupied! The wedding was a smashing success, and the lovely couple are off on their honeymoon getting acquainted!

I wanted to try my hand at art Journalling. As it is all the rage lately, and it just so happens that in The Creative Add on kit has an art journal in it with a cute stencil and embossing powder and such. So I gave it a shot!  Here is my result!

For the first page I used a Butterfly stencil and some homemade modelling paste. I used the Lindy sprays from the color add on. I love how when some of the colours blended I got purple, and the blue took on a teal colour with the black spray. I coloured the butterflies with Stickles ( wow! Hadn't used those in a LONG time!) I used a Prima stitches stamp and some Lindy's embossing powder from my stash. I then used some black gelatos around the edges of the page.

For my second page I jut used the pink spray from the color add on. I used gesso on both pages, and I sprayed water on first, then the pink, and then hit it with the heat gun till dry. I just kept repeating this process till I was satisfied with the result. I did do a bit of dabbing with a paper towel as well.  I used the stencil that came in the Creative add on and used modeling paste. I used some black paint and a old gift card and made some random black lines, and also black lines in between each "sun ray" of the stencil. I used the embossing powder from the add on kit on the black flowers, but you can't see it I the photo.

I am quite happy with how it turned out, being my first time. But next time I will not use such dimensional flowers as now the book won't close properly! I have to change my mind set when it comes to art Journalling! Lol. Thanks so much for dropping by! Time to get working on my next project!

Be Blessed!

Scraps of Elegance and Raindrops on Roses = Gorgeous Inspiration Board!

Hello Peeps! This month at SOE/SOD Melinda decided to forgo the usual monthly sketches and go for an Inspiration Board! The super cool thing is that it works for both of the kit clubs! As I am designing for Scraps of ELegance, I used the August kit, Rain drops on Roses. What a fun kit to play with and design, and the Inspiration board helps you think outside the box.  So, this is the layout I came up with using the Inspiration board! you can find the info to our inspiration board and challenge here-http://scrapsofdarkness.blogspot.ca/2014/08/our-august-challenge.html

What I took for inspiration was the frames, the b/w and color photo, and the trail of flowers. To create this layout, I used the Main Kit, the Coordinating paper add on, the Floral add on,the Color add on, and the Creativity add on.

isn't this beautiful? I bet you could create something equally if not more beautiful with this to inspire you!

For the title, I cut out a phrase from the Authentic Life Cards that came in the main kit and placed them inside one of the frames. I used the sprays from the color add on behind it to make it pop and embellished the top corner with flowers from the kit.  I used a boarder punch some what randomly around the background paper.

Here is a close up to one of the flower clusters. I used a Prima mask and homemade modeling paste and the pink and blue sprays from the kit. I dry brushed the flowers and leaves with gesso.

Same idea on this flower cluster. You can see I outlined the circles from the stencil with a black pencil making them pop and did some random stamping with a prina stamp. Don' t you just love this photo? I found it on line for free!

I placed my photo on pop dots on top of  theses super cute frames that I layered on top of each other, and I fussy cut the black clock from the middle piece of one of the frames. I also used a embossing pen and the embossing powder that came in the Creativity add on. It is very subtle but if you look closely you can see the squiggled lines coming off the four corners of the central part of the layout.  I also splattered some of the sprays.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and please go to the blog and check out the inspiration board and get inspired!

Scraps of Elegance Guest Designing for Scrap Around The World!

What an exciting day! Today is the reveal of the August 2014 Challenge 16 Mood Board for Scrap Around The World, and it was designed by the lovely Marilyn Rivera! Here is the link to their challenge:
http://scraparoundtheworld.blogspot.gr/2014/08/august-2014-challenge-16-elegant.html

Isn't it just beautiful? So many different items to inspire you! I just love the whole board! This is actually my first time using a mood board so it was quite fun for me!

Now I will tell you what from the mood board inspired me! Quite a lot actually! I was first inspired by the aqua color of the dress in the top left corner.  I was also inspired by the cork board and the spools of thread, and the gold dress. Below is my creation and detailed photos, I will warn you, this post is quite photo heavy!

I decided to make a reverse canvas/layout, something I've wanted to do for quite some time but just didn't have the right challenge for it......till now!  I used the SOE August kit, Chasing Rabbits, and had saved this paper particularly for this challenge. I did lots of fussy cutting, and I used the Main Kit and the flower add on.

Here is a view of the side and all the details. I used a couple of stencils, and used some homemade modeling paste and some Viva Decor Inka Gold, to bring in the gold from the mood board.  I also used some Lindy Stamp Gang spray in pink. You get to see some good dimension from this view!

I used the pretty paper from the kit to line all edges of the canvas, and used a 12 x 12 sheet of cork to cover the back. I used lots of flowers from the add on and from my stash. I used the Inka gold on the Prima resin letters to give more definition.

I love these vintage spools of thread that a friends daughter gave me from a garage sale she went too! Perfect for the mood board! I dry brushed gesso over most areas of this GDT piece.

I have lots of pretty layers under the photo, unfortunately they got covered by the all the layers.... you can see a few poking out on the right side of the photo.

thanks so much for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed my piece for the SATW August mood board! Don't for get to go to their site to see all the other GDT creations!  Here is the link to their blog once again!
